anything wrong with a bare oll

So I finished my Tactical Machining 80% lower, and it's bare aluminum right now. I have alumina-hyde that I was planning to paint it with, but now I've had it like this for a while I wanna keep it like this. There is no writing or markings on it except for the fire and safe, eventually I might want to do some engraving on the mag well, but for right now it's bare.

Is there anything wrong with leaving the aluminum bare? I kinda like it like this, it totally says "this is my Frankenstein project."

Anodizing the lower hardens the surface to reduce the wear in the holes etc......

How safe is it to fire without anodizing? And how sufficient would using alumina-hyde be?

The aluminum is soft and the pivot holes will wear and/or 'egg'. Probably not a big deal with minimal use, but the wear certainly will exaggerate over time.

You could probably get a clear anodizing done.

Who/where did/are you going to get your engraving done?

I'm leaving it bare right now since i don't know where to have it done, eventually i figure i might do it myself with a dremel. Or do that trick with the electric etching.

Take it to Techplate in Anaheim. You want a true type III hard anodize, they should be able to do "clear" though.

Your go to metal finishing shop. We offer a variety of plating, coating, and chemnical processing.

This the place? I wanna do my test fire first, then see about engraving before doing that though.
