Where can I shoot without being at a range? I'm in central california, near San Luis.

Is there some agency that I can call to find safe places in my area to shoot legally?

I heard that 3/4 miles from the closest road and not within city limits...

Can someone help me find a nice spot to target shoot?

What's wrong with shooting at the SLOSA range? What are you shooting?

Panoche, Tumey Hills is GTG for just shooting. Upper and lower Cotton Wood are legal to hunt, not sure about target shooting.

SLOSA range can accommodate any shooting discipline you need/want. All calibers welcome.

150' from any public road and/or any occupied building.

Otherwise, local to SLO is the northwest end of the Grade at the eucalyptus grove. Need 4wd. Not real practical.

Back in the 80's when I went to school in SLO town, we used to drive up to the top of Cuesta grade and head off to the west. That might be what Army is talking about but I don't remember the eucalyptus grove. We'd also go up on the ridge to the east, but may not have had the guns on those excursions.

GG, the top of the grade has been closed to shooting since the late 80's, ever since it became a mountain bike destination and the botanical forest became protected. The "euk" grove is at the other end of the road, to the north just before the road drops off onto Hi-way 41.

East side is mostly private ranch property.

Dohhhh!! That's too bad, it was a great spot for trap shooting. We'd bring a couple cases of blue rocks, a case of beer, and try our best to finish the blue rocks before the beer.

I graduated in '87 so it sounds like I got out of there just in time.
