Money not an issue? Then the answer to your question is; you have enough When you have ALL OF THEM.

Like I said... I don't think it impacts buyers at all, but if you're buying and selling, too many sales could cause them to take a look and see if they believe you are acting as an unlicensed dealer.

There are simply too many guns sold in this country (and even the state) for the BATF or DOJ to dedicate the resources to analyzing buyers who buy 8-20 guns a year.

OTOH, we did have one out of state FFL contacted by either the DOJ or BATF about guns that he had transferred to CGN members who almost immediately resold them in the marketplace... so they are watching.

too many is when you have to use your shoulders and your feet to shut the safe door. that is too many.

then you sell couple of rifles and buy handguns.

            that is what i did.
I am offically a gun nut!!!!!

When you have so many that you can't keep them all adequately oiled, and they start rusting.

My dad met a guy like that up in Northern Ca somewhere. He had something like 2,000 antique firearms (including a bunch of ~200 year old flintlocks), and he wasn't able to keep them properly oiled, so he sold the whole collection. I saw a few pics, but I would have loved to have seen the collection.

I say that as long as you can pay your bills and that you have a little money saved aside for emergencies there is no such thing as too many guns. You can throw as many long guns on a DROS as you can afford. New pistols have a once per month limit unless you obtain a Certificate of Eligibility. I believe the only real limits is storage space. There is a limit on the amount of powder you can store at your house if you reload.

I haven't seen too many people losing money on guns or ammo. If you have the cash available, load up!

If you are a collector, collect them all. For me? I am not a collector but a shooter, so as many as I can be proficient with.

Actually after 30 plus years of collecting and refining the same collection I've decided I'm done acquiring them. I got rid of all the neat toys that were safe queens, 1918 BAR, Johnson rifle, Trapdoor Officers model etc.

Plus my wife got tired of the Gatling Gun in the living room! No kidding!

I kept all the toys I use or intend to use. Still was alot!

What with Cowboy action shooting, Sporting Clays, Skeet, Bianchi, Rimfire falling plate matches, I'm still busy playing!

So my answer is...when the day comes you realize it's all just "Stuff" and you already have plenty of "Stuff"! (with regards to George Carlin)
