Anyone swithched to Barnes TSX ?

I used to reload my 308 with 130gr Barnes X bullets. After a reloading hiatus of several years, I have found that those bullets are difficult to locate. So, I switched to TSX and have found that they don't group nearly as well for me given the exact same reloading parameters as the X loads.

Has anyone else moved from Barnes X to TSX in 30cal 130gr? What was your experience and what did you do to get good grouping again?

When the TSX first came out, there used to be a little card in the box that stated something along the lines of; 'due bullet design causing lower than normal pressure, powder charges could be increased by 10%'.

I used that guidance when working up loads, never had any problems.
Haven't seen those little cards anymore.

Hmmm....Interesting. I think that I will load up 10 for the next trip to the range @+10% to see the effects. Will post targets when I get them.

        Thanks for the info.

Barnes also recommends to seat them at least .040" off the lands. The long jump to the lands and the driving bands lowers pressure significantly.

I use the TSX in 6.5mm, 7mm and .375 and the worst performer is MOA in my 7mm Mag.

I was just sharing my past experiences with you. I'm not suggesting you should exceed published load data.

Perhaps you should call Barnes, and get some advice from them.

Absolutely understood. My loads are already below published max. I have some wiggle room, so I'll try it while watching closely for signs of excessive preassure.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.
