there's nothing illegal about brass catchers.......yet.

I'm thinking of making a big, collapsible brass/shell catcher out of PVC and netting that i can take to the range and set up on my right side when i shoot so the brass/shells will just fly into that and i wont have to pick up any brass/shells. Also buying a weapon mounted one for hunting so i don't have to dig through the brush, or swim after shells that land outside the boat!!

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

Yup. Made one out of pvc and an old shirt. Also a great early indicator for how dirty certain ammo is depending on how dirty the shirt gets.

              Lol!

In this state? Some genius legislator who touts a law against such a device as a means by which a person could avoid leaving incriminating evidence at a crime scene.

I'll bet lots of antis would jump right on that bandwagon too. Not acknowledging or even knowing of course, that revolvers don't spit brass, so it kind of doesn't matter. Unless of course, you want to ban revolvers for that reason. ...nah.

Stranger gun laws than one against brass catchers exist in CA.

Stop and think a second about how absurd some of CA gun law is. There are plenty of actual laws that are at least as stupid as outlawing brass catchers. To someone new to firearms and the insanity of CA gun law it might not be obvious that a brass catcher is not a matter of law.

Well, if your brass catcher fills up and happens to get a twist at the top, that would make it a slungshot. And gawd forbid if your filled brass catcher happened to strike anyone on the head. Then they could get you for having both an illegal slungshot and an illegal sandbag.

Yup, it's right there in 12020:

...or any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slungshot, billy, sandclub, sap, or sandbag.
I'm joking of course, but since CA is run by fearful looneys...
