    Winchester Gun Club in Santa Barbara needs your help.

    An open house to discuss the project is planned for December 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Los Padres National Forest headquarters, 6755 Hollister Ave.

    If you shoot up there and are not a member please show your support by contacting Jeff Benson or attending the open house on Dec. 9th.

    Let's make sure this range stays open.

      I am a member of WCGC and I cannot speak for the club but here would be my talking points.

      1. Range Officers on site when open to the Public.
      2. Safe environment for kids to shoot and others to learn.
      3. Law Enforcement and Military uses the range to practice.
      4. Grounds maintained by the Club, no microwaves, washing machines and trash like non supervised shooting places, toilet facilities.
      5. Community service offered by the club.
      a. Hunter Safety
      b. College Students
      c. CMP
      d. Appleseed
      6. Firearms Instructors use the club to train new shooters in firearms safety.

      If the club did not exit the NFS would have to patrol more area to monitor target shooting and NFS would have a greater fire hazard. An organized safety specific shooting area is an asset to the Community and enhances the Los Padres National Forest for all users.

          I'm a local resident and heard about this on the way to work the other day via 99.9 ktyd. I am new to the sport and am not yet a member of the WCGC - but you can certainly expect to see me at the Forest Service tomorrow night in support of the gun club.

          I've grown up in Santa Barbara and Goleta, received all my education here ( elementry -> hs + 2 college degrees ) and I have seen my friends and their father / families bond through the use of the WCGC facility.

          I'll be there.

              I've only shot there once, but I plan on becoming a member very soon. I'll show all the support I can. What time will the open house be at by the way?

              BTW good to see some SB county people here on Calguns. We're a few in numbers lol

                          I too wrote an email to USFS Los Padre's division yesterday.

                          The wife and I will be there tomorrow to listen and speak our pieces
