    Transferring a FN rifle

Lets say I am bringing in a FN FAL type rifle and I do not have a mag lock kit for it. I am waiting for a mag lock to be developed; however, its not available yet so I have to keep the lower separate from the upper until then, or use the rifle out of state.

My question is: When the dealer from out of state ships the rifle to my FFL in CA, do I have to request them to separate the lower from the upper? or can it ship complete and have the CA FFL separate them when it arrives?

The upper is the serialized portion of the rifle.

    Thanks

    Ship separate.
    Upper to FFL.
    Lower to you.

That's the most logical, but its going to cost me a lot extra. Is there anyway to have the entire shipment sent to the FFL?

I'd like the entire gun shipped complete, but if thats an issue, I dont want to cause any problems. I have a tight deadline, and if I have to spend the extra money, I will, but I would like to avoid it.

any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm on a time crunch.

They just need to send it disassembled(lower from upper), they can send both in the same box to the FFL. No need for 2 boxes, just clear this with your FFL 1st.

By the way what are you waiting for to be developed, I thought there was already a FAL mag lock device.

        Edit--

I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

          I went with this recommendation.

MAKE SURE it's not a listed FN FAL.

I know you said "FN FAL type", but still. When you mention FN, you gotta remember that FN FAL's are on the list.

            Just double-check the flowchart.

it's also best to ask your FFL if they are ok with sepparting the upper and lower.
