Basically, separate everything: ammo, magazines, and gun.

Keep the unloaded gun in a locked box/you can leave EMPTY mags in it. Live amm: keep them in their box separated form the gun case. Throw them in the trunk...cops can't do anything.

It looks like the only areas in LA county that are no discharge are rural, as far as I can tell, open loaded carry in unincorporated East LA is legal...

The tricky part is knowing all of the areas and the local county ordinances. If you dont know exactly where you are and what local laws may apply you could likely be violating one.

It can be done though....

Imagine if folks started Open Carrying loaded in unincorporated areas with no other restrictions...then simply remove the clip when you come into incorporated areas....sure would freak some people out.
