What's great is, you can throw the whole alphabet into one word, you'll still get the word.

Thanks guys, I think I get it now.

One more thing: there are a thousand varieties of EOTech sights, and some deemed leo/military. Can I buy one of those? I've seen them up on CalGuns and elsewhere before with no limitations.

        Yes, you can buy these.

There are two main differences between the traditional Eotechs. The newer ones have many other differences.

One difference is the battery used and the other is night vision compatibility. Batteries account for the size differences and have varying operational life from hundreds to thousands of hours. Some models allow it to be used with night vision optics and adds cost.

        I hope this helps

What's the difference between the two, if any? I might be building an AR for my wife and this would work great for her.

The main difference is the "armor shroud" around the EOTech - it is made to handle a LOT more abuse than its Bushnell counterpart. Also, I don't think they are making the Bushnell's in the new "sideways battery" style, but again, this comes down to a "holding up under abuse" issue... Other than that, it's the exact same tech.

I have had EOTech & Aimpoint. I personally like the Aimpoint more. I just don't like the ring around the red dot. The Aimpoint has a much better battery system and for my taste, I think the Aimpoint just looks better.

Both are great sights though. Just a personal preference.

                      I currently use a ACOG

I prefer the battery life on Aimpoints but wouldn't trade the 1 MOA reticle on my Eotech. That 1 MOA reticle makes all the difference when engaging targets 100-200 yrds. The Bushnell Holosight is a great value, it doesn't have all the bell's and whistles but is very compact. I use it on my AR pistol. FYI all Eotech's are NV compatible, you just have to turn down to lowest brightness setting. NV models have a switch that goes into lowest setting instantly.

Ah, is that the only difference between regular and NV compatible models?

I have the Bushnell Holosight on my SOCOM 16.

                                It works nicely.
