    Imbert Smithers Sporting Goods

Has anyone ever been here? I need to get my shotgun fixed and was thinking about taking it here. I found them on the winchester web site. Can anyone share their experience? Any information would be great.

    Friendly people and great service

When I took in my 22 rifle for a checkup and magazine release adjustment, they asked how soon did I need it back. I told them no rush; it was just for fun target shooting. They fixed it in less than 2 weeks.

I've only had a couple of minor things done there and they seem fairly competent and cheap. Turn-around was around three weeks.

        Good gunsmithing, nice folks.

A little unclear on SB23-related issues, for awhile I think they wouldn't even put flash hiders on bolt guns.

Cool, I dont need anything related to my OLLs. I just need to get my Super X1 fixed. The action is frozen shut and I can't figure out how to open it up.

I had them drill and tap the tang of my Marlin 1894 Cowboy and install a Marbles Tang Sight. Good job in a reasonable length of time. I hate going in there because I always see some thing I can't live without.

Bought my first rifle through them years and years ago Used to be quite litterally about the only smith I used.

I had heard here that they've gone through a gunsmith change within the last 6 months or so....... Dunno about the quality.....though I somewhat think its safe to assume they're still ok as we've NOT had anyone showing here doing the complaining thingy about them in any way........

I think its because the owners are a bunch of hunters.

Imbert & Smithers is no good!

It has obviously been a long time since you asked about I&S but I figured I would share my experience anyway:

I took my Ruger in for a small repair ten (yes 10) months ago. The gentleman said the fix would take 1-2 weeks and no more than $40. Well I picked it up yesterday at the price of $125. I have been calling once a week since december of last year and they tell me that it is not ready and they cannot give it back because the gunsmith has it all apart.... When I brought up that it was three times as much as originally promised, they said that the gunsmith sets the price (the guy I orginally talked to and promised $40).

Whether you are buying a gun (prices are at least 10% higher than everywhere else in the Bay Area), lookng to order something custom (if you are not a good ol' boy they will only provide what is on the shelves), or looking for repairs (see above); I would expect an expensive headache. Stay away!

Bought an O/U 12Ga from them years ago. Nice gun, nice shop. I remember thinking they had a bit of an attitude but that long ago it could have easily have just been me.

Top notch sporting gun gunsmithing, quick turnaround.

I'd highly recommend them for what you need.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Purchased all my rifles from them- at least 12 in all. Dont hesitate to ask for a 10% off their retail. Had work done on action job and vintage rifle within 2-3 weeks time.

they wanted $750 for a new Springfield XD9, and they had thousands of rounds of 7.62 stacked on the ground for a high markup, but other than that they are friendly

Missed zero and asked about the revolver I wanted $650 ya right for used blued 6inch. Went to bass pro got new for $500. Ill spent the extra gas money
