That being said- you'd have to be the dumbest criminal in the world to follow a guy home because he has gun-related bumper stickers. As a criminal you'd be making the connection that the guy has weapons but completely dismissing the possibility of the guy having both access to these weapons and the training to use them to stop whatever crime it is you're considering perpetrating. Only way it would make sense is if the criminal was trying to commit suicide by proxy LOL.

I myself don't like to put pics of my firearms on the net at all, though I've done it from time to time. I always just take pics of the other side of the gun, so that the serial isn't exposed. I actually never considered why I do it, I just followed suit with what I saw others doing online because I figured it couldn't hurt any more than the alternative.

I disagree...4473's for long guns stay at the gun shop, not with the feds like a handgun. Many long guns before 1968 never had serial mumbers either. The 4473 is only to see if the buyer is worthy of gun ownership, it is not necessarily to register a long gun since the serial number is not entered into any part of the computer when the DROs is run. Some new guns I buy from a dealer I know are ordered. My dealer will run the Dros before the gun even gets to him. He will enter the serial number on the 4473 afterwards and file it away.

Example: If a 1950's shotgun is found at a crime scene it would be very difficult to be traced to it since the LEO's would have to know what dealer has the 4473 on file. Not enough time and resources to do the research. A new gun could be traced from the maker, to the dealer, to you, but for only 20 years.

So yes maybe I am a bit paranoid but at the same time better safe than sorry. Do I personally think I am important enough to mess with that would come with a mixed answer. EVERYONE is important enough for someone to mess with. But I am just a person nothing special.
You must have missed something in one of my posts in this thread. I said that anyone with enough smarts can find anything they want about you from you cyber footprint. (hence your stalker) There are a few here that think this is not a realistic theory. I have never been stalked (not pretty enough) but I have been the victim of on line fraud and no one could tell me how it happened.

Like I said earlier, you have to hope you are not important enough or be just plain lucky.

          Bingo.

No worries. My stalker was back before the internet. And you got me to laugh on the not pretty enough. I don't think I am either but I still managed to get one. On-line fraud sucks majorly. And while yes it can be easy enough to get information on line. I just cannot see giving out anything more than we need to. I hope you managed to straighten out your situation with the fraud.
