I'm in Ohio for Thanksgiving...

My dad (who lives here) wanted to buy a .22 rifle so we went to Bass Pro Shop to check them out. While there, he decided on a nice Ruger 10/22 with a wood stock. He paid for it, bought some ammo at the same time, and took it home right away. We shot it the same day in his back yard. Elapsed time between purchase and shooting the rifle on his own property....about 1.5 hours. That's how it's done in a free state.


Oh, and the Wal Marts here have tons of ammo on the shelves.

My relatives in Texas tend to go gun shopping while I'm there...they say they want my input, but I think they're just trying to rub my face in the fact that they're in and out in 30 minutes. That and they always let the guy behind the counter know that I live in CA, which evokes an expression halfway between disgust and pity.

vanguard, what area of Ohio are you in? Im originally from there, and spent a few days there a couple months ago. I bought a ton of ammo at Fin, Feather, Fur in Ashland Ohio. . . . huge monsterous building with pallets and pallets of ammo. . . all CHEAP TOO!

I'm in a little town called Bethel about 20-30 miles East of Cincinatti. My dad's house is in the middle of a State Park area where they allow hunting so we're constantly hearing gunfire from hunters. There are tons of wild turkeys and deer around here. We see them at least once every day. It would be easy to shoot a wild turkey for Thanksgiving but we don't have licenses or the inclination to pluck and gut one.
