I nearly made out with a Steyr carbine for $80 , but someone bought it when I ventured to the back looking for 8x56R
How much was the Wolf going for? .223?

I decided to sit it out and wait til maybe next month for the Glendale show or the end of next month for the next Costa Mesa one.

I did hit Wally World for 300 rnds of ammo; .45acp, .40S&W and 9mm. I got a deal because when I went home, I noticed I didn't get charged for 1 box of ammo, too bad it was the 9mm and not the 45 though which is going for $27!! Also got some Hoppes and then went to the Stockade to compare the USP to the 220, one of which will be my next buy hopefully.

I had a good show because I found a nice K98. byf 1943 (Mauser), all matching numbers, original finish, nice shiny bore, although the buttplate was not original to the gun and someone cleaned up the rear of the stock a bit. It had the ZF41 scope mounting rail (it's integral to the rear sight), which is tough to find. About 100,000 out of 12 Million had that rail.

At about 10:15 on Saturday, I did see a husky fellow in cuffs sitting on a garden wall outside the show. He was the guest of honor at a police party.

Scored some Wolf 7.62x39 and .223 from Ammo Bros and Miwall, respectively, as well as the obligatory CB sweet and spicy jerky. Got some cyalume sticks for junior to play with when he's bored and some caltrops, a few books, and a case of MRE's. Wifey got some pinup/bomber nose art stuff from the dude between the 2 buildings that sells the toys. Didnt get the Stag upper I set out for, but thats my fault for not going earlier. Otherwise, topped off by the SuperBowl and a huge box of chicken and mojos and a six pack of Dr Pepper, it was a very good day.

              Scored a few goodies!!!

Bought the Stag Upper for $380 from Cold War Shooters. Nice guys and very helpful!

Scored AE 223 55 grain Factory (Red Box/20 rounds) for $3 each. Bought all the guy had. He also gave me one box of Federal 223 55 grain for free.

Scored several boxes of 5.45x39 (Wolf Black Box) for $3 each. Bought all the guy had. (It's been really hard to find this stuff!)

Bought PMC 223 55 grain factory (White Box/20 rounds) for $4 each. Also, bought his Wolf 223 steel case 55 grain for $2.

Bought LC 308 (NATO M118 - I think this is the sniper's rounds, copy of FGM 169 BTHP w/o the Hollow Point) Box of 20 for $10. Want to try this out on my Blaser R93 LRS2 308. Bought every rounds he had.

I have to stop going to Gunshows and spending too much money but I keep finding great deals that I can't turn down!!!

                Gun show

Good show, but very few gun dealers.
I picked up a very nice Remington 1903A3 with a perfect barrel for $450.

Wow, it sounds like that Crossroads show is as good as their old Pomona show. Is it any where near the size of the big Pomona show (I think it was five or six buildings at its peak)?

I haven't been to a decent gun show since Crossroads got forced out of the Pomona fairgrounds.

Ontario was good for it's second showing.

rumour was that Rich couldn't account for 65 guns on his books
That would be sad if true since he had some pretty cool stuff. The Glendale show is coming up in early March. I'll make sure to check to see if he's there or not....[update] just called and the message says that they are going out of business in 4 - 6 weeks, pick-ups only. Sad indeed. No more vault. No more cool C&Rs.

That being said [as usual] I spent more than I thought I would but not all the $$ I brought. That the show is getting bigger (and more frequent) is great. I just hope they don't have too much filler there just to fill spaces.
                      :oji:

Of course! The old Pomona shows were the BEST!! AR's, AK's,FAL's, HK's, Hi-caps, it was ALL good!!! Sadly, since 2000, we will never see shows like that again in CA.

Ontario really surprised the hell out of me for being a new show. I thought because it was a fairly new show that it would be a crapfest like Glendale. Boy was I in for a surprise....

All the usual suspects were there: CWS, The Ammo Brothers, Miwall, the book guy, MRE/ammo box lady, the mag vendors, Calif Competition Works, CB Jerky, SOG Arms... it was like Costa Mesa in one big room.

Maybe I am a noob, but what is the deal with cameras that the asian people were breaking?

I didn't see anything exciting... I bought a fobus holster for $20, 4 bushmaster mags fro CWS a single point sling adapter and that was it...

Ammo wasn't any cheaper than wallyworld so I skipped on it.

It's surprised me too, for that one having been the second show. The first one was kind of sparse and sales sucked, mostly tire kickers. Doesn't bother me so much, but I was worried that some of the vendors would decide not to come back. Seems to be well on its way to being just like any other show now... that's a good thing.
