Know an FFL who can get tickets for you or that you can go with.

i think they are beyond impossible to score unless you involved in the gun industry, procuring firearms, and/or media. even most high-ranking military, LE, and security company individuals are specially invited by SHOT, other movers in the industry, or personal friends.

SHOT really tries their utmost to screen and weed out people who don't belong there and I heard they really scrutinize all vendor and attendee applications. i only know this because a relative of mine who works in a unit in lasd thats helps the assistant sheriff with all the equipment forecasting and budgeting for the depts annual budget, even they have a hard time trying to get extra tickets for other officers and such in the dept.

And I'm more than sure if anyone on this forum who had any tips or tricks to get in, they probably wouldn't spoil it and tell everyone here!! =)

I used to get a "exhibitor" psss through a gun company. When you go to the SHOW show with the exhibitor pass or anything other than "retailer" pass, they don't talk to you much. The best thing is to get a "retailer" pass. They will talk to you all you want. I have my pass already and reserved a hotel room for 4 days.

I guess the best thing is to get to know a gunshop guys and have them get a pass for you. Of course you pay them $20 for the pass.

Non-FFLs accepted are exhibitors, journalists, and hunting/shooting/LEO retailers.

I don't think it will this year. At least, it didn't work for another CGer when he tried to register with his.

Yeah, you are correct. Those haven't worked I believe in the last two years. They've really clamped down on that. Doesn't surprise me one bit though. With so much high-tech modern weaponry and advanced equipment being exhibited, SHOT sees no need for the C&R market to come to their trade show.

I heard for the last few years exhibitors and vendors just flat-out ignore people there that they know aren't there with legitimate interests in purchasing or procuring anything for their dept., unit, store, etc. It's probably a big waste of their time and money to hand out cards, samples, free gifts, catalogs, etc. and spend time with customers who don't belong there.

When I do go, I make it a point not to waste the time of the vendors. I know that the guy right behind me might be there to close a 6-figure deal, so I try to keep the questions to a minimum.
