    Machine Guns vs. RC Planes

Not sure which would be more fun - flying the planes or shooting.

Yeah, who am I kidding. I know which would be more fun.

Sorry if this is a dupe, first I've seen of it.

I can't tell you how hard I laughed at that.

I also learned just how very, very hard AA fire is.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

Shooting down a $100 RC airplane with $3,000 of ammo: priceless.

they should make it more interesting by shooting down a rc jet. rc jets cost between 7-10k.

That RC plane (not the radio) probably DID cost more than $100. (time and labor and radio receiver which may have lived). Besides, a full size airplane from far away (being that size, relatively) would be moving WAY faster than a normal manmade object could. And as an ex RC (aircraft) dork I'd say flying would be WAAAAY more fun than shooting off a thousand rounds into the sky. And probably cheaper. Shotgun might have helped in that situation...unless it was an "exercise."

All I could think after that video was that I wanted that little plane to DIE!

Years ago I was able to witness a live fire exercise at Fort Irwin which included tanks, artillery, Apaches, and a 20mm Vulcan type cannon mounted on an APC. The 20mm was supposed to be the AAA for the unit, and its target was a model plane with about a 6 foot wing span. It made simulated air to ground attacks and the 20mm was spraying all over the sky trying to hit the plane. Finally it ran low on fuel and was replaced by a second plane. After several more passes, the 20mm was declared destroyed and the blinking yellow light went on. One of the officers in the bunker remarked that they hardly ever get the plane, unless there are dismounts with M-16s who are generally able to shred it.

At least that is the way I remember it after 20 years.

Yeah I'd rather waste that shooting at stationary targets.
