Scary story while at the range

I've got a scary range story that happened this last weekend.
I took these two noobs to the Yolo Sportsman Association. and I am telling them the rules and how to keep themself out of trouble and this guy interups me and started asking me all kinds of questions about this pump action 22 he brought me bieng a nice guy I tell him all about it. A couple of min. later my friends are shooting and this guy (the one with the pump 22) is waving the gun around pointing it in every direction. After firing a bunch of rounds me and my friends stood back to wait for the range to clear so we can change targets while we are waiting I inform the range master to keep an eye on this guy, me and the range master are good friends. After everyone sets their gun down and steps back the range master said "clear to go down" we get about half way down and the guy with the 22 picks up his gun and closes the action, I had my back turned and had no idea what was happening untill the range master started yelling at him to put the gun down. Finaly the range master grabs the gun opens the action and a round pops out I was about to get shot The guy with the 22 got thrown out so I got to enjoy the rest of the day not worring about him. Luckly the two noobs weren't to scared and want to go again.

Damnnnnnnn. It's pretty amazing how many people go to the range and don't take the time to learn the rules...

This is one of the reasons I favor shooting on BLM land and not at ranges (I realize not everyone has that option however) on BLM land you are usually all alone and can spend your time worrying about your OWN safety habits and not some other nut-case...

I think range masters should all open carry, then if some dildo doesn't listen to instruction the range master has some incentive to make him comply quickly...

Nah, you can't do that. The little wennie will hate your guts forever and post bad things about you all over the Internet.

I prefer going to BLM land but I only had about two hours to shoot and the closest blm land is an hour away. The Y.S.A. is about 15 min. away I dont shoot there alot usally I go up to walker ridge rd and shoot

Best I saw at TM West was a tiny asian gangbanger type who came back into the store area with Glock in hand, action closed, finger on trigger, waving it around in that "yo yo yo off da hizzy" way.

The chick cleaning guns in the center area screamed at him sooo loud to put it down that he nearly jumped through the ceiling.

It's good the range had the !@# to throw the guy out.

One time at the Folsom range the older RO fell asleep in the glass booth during a cease fire. You could see him ZZZZZZZZZ. Suddenly, he poped awake and yells "OK, commence fire!" except he forgot to check, there was still one guy down at the 100 yd range. The look on the guys face down range was priceless. Needless to say, those on the line "screamed" at the RO, which was a nice irony for a change.

Man...I would not want to be at the end of a rifle range and hear that.

That's when you start screaming WHILE hitting the dirt!

And sadly, probably end up on YouTube, screaming like a little girl for all the world to see!

There's once someone's gun was broken, a Colt commander that has a piece of slide broken and send the bushing, plunger and recoil spring down range, so I have to call a cease fire and sent one of the guy working with me down range to retrive it. It goes like:

-Shooters at bay2 from lane 11-20, I am now calling a temporary cease fire. Please unload your firearms and step away from the shooting booth.

And I have this guy with his girlfriend still shooting, so I have to go on PA again:

-Shooters, cease fire and step away from the booth.

So the guy stop shooting, but still in his booth showing his girl about the gun, and my coworker is already out in the open trying to retrive those gun parts... worrying about him might get hurt, I have to yell....

-Shooter on lane 15, which part of STEP AWAY FROM THE BOOTH don't you understand? STEP AWAY FROM THE BOOTH IMMDIATELY!

Idiots like that will ruin any range master's day...

Saw something similar happen at YSA when I used to shoot there in college. Couple of young guys (18-20) were shooting their shotgun and lever action at the 25yd range. These guys seemed fairly new to shooting, as they were observed shooting their guns from their hips. Similar to the OP's post, during the target change, these guys went back to their guns and closed their actions. RO went ballistic on the guys and kicked them out.

                            ...people are dumb.

The first time I went to a "cold" range, it was pretty clear what to do.

I went to a military high school, and we had our own rifle range. I was the varsity rifle team captain/armorer/RSO/ROO.

One day, I had to run the outdoor smallbore range for a fam fire (twice a year, the entire corps of cadets have to shoot 22's. Once for familiarization, the other in an attempt to qualify for a marksmanship badge.)

One of the little freshman was REALLY excited about shooting. During the target change period, he practaclly sprinted down range, put his target up, sprinted back. He then picked up his rifle, and loaded a round. I run over yelling "CEASE FIRE! CEASE FIRE!". I get there just in time to elevate the muzzle as he pulls the trigger, round impacts near the top half of our 30 foot wall... (we share a fence with an airport, so we have to make sure nothing accidently flies over the berm and hit's an aircraft)

That little punk got to spend 20 minutes in the "chinesse tv watching position", 200 bends and thrusts, 8-count pushups, and generally anything painful i could think of. And then the SgtMaj had his way with him....
