Anyone Use The Nikon Monarch Red Dot?

anyone here use the nikon monarch VSD red dot on their AR?

i bought one new a couple of days ago. pretty slick. it is a VSD (variable size dot) and goes from like 1 MOA to 10 MOA. i took it out yesterday, lined it up and and dialed it down to 1 MOA and slapped a target ( i use large boxes for my target stand so i can put several targets on it at a time) out at about 130 yards. shot 1/2 inch groups with no problem. im sure it would have shot much better (one holers), but anymore im getting blind as a bat.

anyway, pretty slick sight. anyone else have one on their gun?

ive also got a eotech on the way, so im gonna run the red dot on my removable carry handle, and use the eotech on the upper if get a wild hair and remove it.in an experiment after i lined the red dot up i reoved the carry handle scope mount from the carry handle, put it back on and shot it again and it held zero perfectly. ive also got an el cheapo leapers 4x compact rifle scope on another carry handle mount that keeps a sweet zero when removed and reattached

oh, and does anyone use a magnifier on their red dot?...im thinkin about getting one of those too, but i havent a clue what for.

I have a Nikon Monarch VSD red dot on my Spikes ST-22SD dedicated rifle. It is a very nice sight indeed. I had to buy some risers though. I'll post pics tonight.

      heres mine...LOL....

cheapo vulcan (forged) lower receiver,LMT upper with wilson barrel. nothin special, but believe it or not, its a dead on one hole group rifle at 100 yards........ive heard some of the older vulcan lowers were hit and miss QC wise. i musta got lucky cause this one is a sweetie. measured it out against a stag and RRA lower with calipers and everything was straight on the money. everything fit perfectly with no issues to.ive got another one built on a vulcan lower and a MS upper with custom heavy (1" under tube) 18" barrel and have over 8000 rounds thru it with absolutely zero wear on it. ive got a couple of higher end factory ARs that dont shoot as nice as this one...LOL

How does this thing mount? Can it be mounted on AKs?

the nikon VSD red dot has a built in weaver style mount. if you can put a weaver/picatinny mount on your AK, it will go right on......

should be ok on AK 5.45 and 223, not sure what will happen if mounted on 7.62x39.

if you mean recoilwise hoozaru, it will be fine. i had one on a s&w 500 and shot the snot out of it with full house loads and t never waivered.

for a bit over 300 bucks, it had better not!

Oh, interesting. I know a lot of their scopes are made in Japan so it's interesting that that one is not. I'm wondering whether they just slapped their name on it or actually developed it themselves.

I believe they are "real" Nikons and actually get great accolades. The Nikon Prostaff scope I had was made in the Philippines too. It was also very nice...no complaints about it.
