For my eight year old daughters' birthday, I purchased a purple Davey Crickett rifle for her. I took her to the range intending for her to concentrate on safety more so than marksmanship. The 25 yard line was a bit tough so I placed her on the 7 yard line. The Aguila sub-sonic ammo keyholed so we went to Remington. I may be a bit biased, but that's pretty good shooting for the first 25 rounds ever shot.

That's awesome, my son is going to turn 8 at the end of this month and I have the same caliber in mind for his first gun too. Good times.

Reminds me of when I first taught my kids to shoot. I still have their Chipmunk 22 single shot rifle. I started them all at age 12. They shot well.

It will be several more years but I plan to teach my grand daughter how to shoot with the same rifle her mother learned with. Reason enough to sock away a couple of boxes of 550 value pack 22's.
