    Reno gun show report

The show was a very good time, there were a lot of Cowboy action guns and stuff, quite a few vendors, but I am use to the recent Cal Expo shows so I am easily impressed and the crowd wasn’t bad at all. There seemed to be a decent amount of ammunition with several different vendors, Miwall was sold out of small pistol primers by 11:30 am (someone else had predicted 12:00) and there were some decent deals on rifles, I cried when I had to put a early model Ruger M-77 in 300 Win Mag back because I didn’t have the $500.00 to buy it, and yes I would have gladly dealt with the transfer to California for that gun; I have been searching for it in 300 Win Mag for a LONG time

But not all of the day went so well, on the way home at 5:45 pm I passed 5 CHP and 4 unmarked vehicles with LE light packages on west bound I-80 about a half mile west of Kingvale with a lifted black Ford Superduty pulled over There were at least two guys that appeared to be in custody and the officers in the process of doing a complete search of the vehicle right there in the chain control wide out, that means they were all but strip searching it The back of the truck was packed with ammunition cans (with the white labels Miwall uses) and I could see several long guns on the hood because traffic had slowed to about 5 miles an hour to rubber neck! My heart just sank when my dad and I saw it, why would someone try and to out wit Johnnie law when it has been pretty well documented that the walls have ears at the show

NOTHING says you cant buy ammo out of state or take rifle with you to shoot or get accessories for. My guess is they were speeding or doing some other stupid garbage and got pulled over...

Just dont speed, stay off the phone, make sure your lights all work, registration updated, etc..otherwords dont give them a reason to pul you over....if they pull you over and star 'fishing'-'you coming from a gunshow?' crepe like that... i call illegal shenanigans, meaning they are recording plates, taking photos(?)... oh and never consent to a vehicle search and if they insist get their names, badges AND demand their watch commander is present...

They were still there at 7:00 p.m. too!

I got plenty of small pistol primers from Miwall

SOG Armory had a single SCAR available for $3099. It just sat there with a sign reading 'Do not touch'. Guy running the table that I talk to every show for a few minutes gave me the story about how dealers have to buy $15k worth of unsellable FN trash (FN pistols, their goofy AR-stocked police shotguns, and the FS2000) to be allowed to order one SCAR that they waited on for well over a year. He said that will probably be the only SCAR they ever get and that the SCAR-hysteria has gone cold.

Everyone had AR uppers, lowers, mags, LPKs, match trigger modules, stocks, etc.

Out of the ordinary sights at a typically ordinary show: A guy was selling two Australian Leader rifles -- one with a folding stock, other with the standard stock -- from his private collection. I haven't seen a Leader since the '80s. He also had a nice SAR-4800 available in the original Springfield Armory box which matched the serial.

That Hk-43 ("One of 500 worldwide!", so the tag read) was still at the same table it was at the last show, with a three-pin swing down lower Hk-41 Golden State Armory next to it. Jon Belfort from Palomino Valley Police Supply had a pristine Hk-91 with no claw marks. Another guy in room one had a very nice Hk-93A3 for $2900. I counted two Finnish Valmet M72s, one M82 (the same one that One Eyed Jack's keeps bringing to shows), and a genuine non-Century Galil ARM 556.

Other than that, same old show and sales are flat.

They probably used one of these.

Seriously how much of this is FUD & is any of the out-of-state sales based upon anyone actually being targeted for purchasing anything other than ammo?

There is nothing to be afraid of if you are legally in compliance. Buying ammo won't get you in trouble.

There likely is some surveillance at show and folks trying to bring back hicaps or AWs could be in trouble. (There was a case 4-5 yrs ago where a dude took his illegal unreg'd AW out of CA, walked around the Reno show with it, couldn't get his sales price, and he took it back to CA. He was popped inside the CA border with possession, importation and transportation charges.)

The ATF likely looks for interstate sales without FFL, and would pop people in NV for that.

More than likly the person who was on the side of the road was speeding...Then the items were observed...Pretty easy to understand...

The walls etc.. Should not be a real concern for most of us, who buy, sell and do what the law mentions...Staying at the speed limit is not all bad either.

                Sales are flat

                Thanks for the report

It's all about generating revenue, and speeders are big time revenue.
