Gun safe selection taking a long time

Hi:

I want to buy some guns but I'm making a big fuss over picking a gun safe.

I have a 22.0 inch wide space in my apartment. That's where it must go. The choices have narrowed down to Stack-On 16-gun safes, Amsec model TF5517, or Mutual Safes (via Direct Safe) model MS-5922.

The fire ones waste quite a bit of space with the insulation. I'm undecided about whether I should bother with this, or get the lighter, easier to handle Stack-On. The Amsec and Mutual are a bit more secure with

However, none of these are really safes, nor are they rigorously rated for fire anyway! A serious safe is described by this guy here:

So none of these really qualify. I'm considering to forego the fire insulation to get more space, just get the lighter Stack-On which I can handle without much help, and call it a day. I may invest in a small true fire safe later for important docs and perhaps ammo.

There is another benefit of the Stack-On, it will be easier to drill the back panel to make holes so I can bolt it to the studs, rather than the floor. I don't want to drill the floor here. Most of my furniture is secured to the studs, so that will buy enough time to prevent burglary (presuming I successfully implement my electronic security system plans).

I'm going to call the guy who wrote the article tomorrow and see if he has any recommendations. Then I need to just decide something.

I think that is actually the same Mutual Safes MS-9522 that I had seen at Direct Safes, since it has the same dimensions, weight, etc. I think this is a made in China box with the lock assembled in California (the lock may also be made in China for all I know.)

I'm inclining toward actually constructed in USA safes, thanks to the next tip from "liketoshoot".

Just get a stack on gun cabinet and load it up with ammo, no one will carry it away and with an apartment you have to worry about the weight of a safe on the floor/damage.
