I work with an older gentleman who has spent a lifetime repairing precision machinery as a field engineer. He's a gun owner and shooter, too, and he absolutely swears by this stuff for everything including his guns. I seem to use more grease (tetra and plastilube/lubriplate) than oil for lubricating my firearms, but I keep a bottle of Hoppes gun oil around for things that need oiling. Is there any difference between the stuff marketed as 'gun oil' versus something like the Starrett tool and instrument oil?
