Gun magnet?

Awesome, I was thinking about the same thing myself. The only thing is that it would probably slowly magnetize the frame of the gun itself causing it to attract particles of metal in it.

You can de-magnetize a piece of ferromagnetic metal by heating to realign the domains. The heat of firing when you take it to the range might be enough for as weakly magnetized as it is going to get. Failing that, you could whack it with a rubber mallet.

I would love to have one of those but with one 8yr old running around the house and another on the way its just not a good idea for my type of household.

Harbor Freight has magnets of every size and most under 10$. I have several for holding large tools and they ran me about $4 each.

Couple of big rare earth magnets and your problem is solved. Don't get your cell phone or PC near them, though.

Note the pull force on these. More than adequate for anything less than a crew-served weapon. Dip them in tool handle coating before mounting and that would do it.
