What we don't need
I have nothing against girlie calendars, but whose idea was it to pose all these women with their fingers on the triggers?Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Tags: None -

Nice Calendar.Originally posted by Daytripper63"Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. I explained that if it were an Obama truck, the seats would blow smoke up your *** year-round. I had to walk back to the dealership. The guy had no sense of humor."Comment

Technically, it's good but that's not the whole deal. Making a better calendar is very possible. Having done a couple of photo shoots myself (yeah, I got paid by them) for the magazine that most of us grew up with (great memories!), we have the production talent. Get some skilled make-up and hair, find the right models and you're there. I think we could find a gun or two, probably more interesting than the ones in that calendar.
I think I just gave away something... When you do enough photography with exposed skin, the "skin" becomes somewhat boring. So you start paying a lot more attention to the hair, make-up, pose/action, wardrobe, props, location, etc. It's just that you have to rely on you eye to keep control of the photo shoot. If you lose that, you should just put the camera down.
But honestly, that calendar (finger placement being the exception) was very nicely done. I give credit to those who got it done. The finger placement issue is something that the photographer should have caught, had he known to look for it.Last edited by Rivers; 10-27-2009, 11:52 AM.NRA Certified Instructor: Basic Pistol ShootingComment

This is spot on.
Calguns calendars aren't about skin, they're about showing off *real* shooters and 2A supporters to the world.
This isn't a "Stacked and Packed" calendar effort, this is a "we're the California shooting/RKBA community and we're going to undermine the anti worldview and kick their *** every chance we get" calendar effort.
What we are going to offer is entirely unique, and the fantastic thing about it is that all proceeds will be reinvested into 2A outreach efforts designed to further RKBA in California.
We have some beautiful Calgunners and shooters out there, and I'm looking forward to seeing the results in time to buy a box of them for Christmas gifts.

not lying, 'cause y'all know it's not the guns in the photos that are "locked and loaded". D'OH!
beautiful women, excellently turned out, nice photography. probably not shooters. not *our* shooters.
different thing altogether.
