    Mexican gun problems

I keep reading blog posts about how obama is concerned w/ the mexican gun problem, because all of mexico's illegal guns come from the states. To me - it sounds like a personal problem. What good have they been in curbing our drug problems up here? It seems like it's only getting worse despite their efforts.

I think if mexico has a problem with guns getting through their border they outta beef up their border and quit whining about it.

That's the claim, but it's been largely shown to be a case of some really fuzzy math.

As far as I can tell it got mainstreamed when some 'scholar' at CFR wrote a horribly researched piece claiming that Mexican cartels were getting grenades and machine guns from thousands upon thousands of border gun stores. When she got called out on it, they switched to some dishonesty with numbers obtained from the ATF. Even the ATF has said those figures are being misrepresented.
