A couple days ago, I was going thru my safe and I re-discovered my old duty piece, a SW M59. What a blast from the past. I almost forgot it was there!
When I was a brand-new copper in 1978, I was issued this piece. In them days the 59 was all the rage, like the Glock now. I was offered the chance to buy it as surplus when I left the department and did so.
I checked it out for awhile, and decided I would take it to the range on the next opportunity. Some old school stuff. Bottom line: It still shoots very well. At 7 yards it placed every round in the 5-ring. (dead center)
Although I migrated to what I perceived to be better carry guns later, the old '59 was a very acceptable gun. And I guess I'd have to admit it still is. Good news is I didn't shoot it alot so it's like new!
Anybody else like the M39/59 S&W's?
