NICS Background Check Wait Time?

Hi everyone, i just went to a gun store this week twice to do a ppt, now this place that i had them done at put the NICS number on the receipt. I just noticed now that right after it, it says status: approved. does that mean the NICS is instant and that all that BS about wait time to make sure no one is criminal is just a load of it? i was originally led to believe it actually takes a day or two

The background check it virtually instant. Kind of like a credit check The 10 days is for a "cool off" period. because If you are going to commit a crime who would use their old gun when you can break the law with a new gun??

That's why it's called National INSTANT Criminal Background Check System. Sometimes they may put a 24-48 delay on your purchase, but that is mostly if there is a name crosscheck problem.

It literally takes about as much time to fill out the form than it does to get approved.

CA Dealers don't use the NICS system directly...The DOJ does it for them. Where did you see that NICS number and the "approved"? On the 4473 or DROS?

Something like 99% of NICS checks are instant. Contrary to Brady propaganda, the waiting period has nothing to do with the background check.

yea the "I" stands for instant. 10 day is a cool off period. what a joke. whats relevant but never makes the news. is how we have the most restrictive gun laws. but the highest crime rates. seems like the politicians are making it really easy for criminals to prey on the weak. and law enforcement backs it because, well, nobody is taking their guns away. so what do they have to lose. same with the cell phone law. leo is exempt from that one too. i was pretty disgusted when i saw the video of arnold signing ab962 and all the leo heads were behind him cheering. and were all holding the bill up and celebrating like they won the super bowl. what a joke. criminals still have guns. criminals still have ammo. criminals still have "assault weapons". whats has really changed because of these laws again? i cant seem to remember the possitive outcome. oh yea thats right, crime went up in a steady annual increase.
