Outdoor shooting ranges, N. OC area?

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum to ask.

I live in north Orange county.

I have not been shooting since 1996'ish. At that time we used to go to a range in writewood, horse shoe range IIRC. Nice out of the way place, free and no one was ever there. Also it was clean, no dishwashers, tv, refrigerators like some places. We went to lytle creek once, it was terrible. Trash and unsafe "gangsta" shooting cross range and general bad gun edicate there.

Where can you go to fire pistols, rifles and maybe some skeet? I don't mind a fee as long as it's clean and safe.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Burro Canyon?

It's not in Orange County but it's not too far. Azusa.

Good range, decent people. They rent private ranges for the day too.

N OC with skeet/trap? then prado shooting park. they got a good skeet/trap setup. the only downside.... pistols calibers only for the range side and is limited to 25 yards. visit prado to get your skeet/trap and pistol shooting urges out.

if you want centerfire rifle shooting... then you will have to travel further to burro canyon, angeles shooting range, or lytle creek (currently closed due to fire) these ranges will allow you to shoot skeet/trap, but is very basic. and btw lytle creek has cleaned up a lot. no more "gangster" shooting styles.

There's a good two way shooting range in Santa Ana just about every night......

In Brea, there is an indoor range with a decent pro shop.

Orange County Indoor Shooting Range and Pro Shop

Raahauge's has some cool shooting opportunities.

We are the one-stop location for the shooting enthusiast in Southern California. This public range has private bays for pistol and rifle, 100-yard bay for rifle and a 30-station sporting clays course. Bring your own guns or rent one from us.

OC indoor is 75 feet and pistol caliber only. So he's out of luck for Rifles and skeet.

What ever happened to the range that was in the hills, I believe off of Jeffrey Road?

The toll road was built on top of it. No more Orange County outdoor ranges. As for the original poster Lytle Creek has been cleaned up. The Forest Service got rid of the open shooting area and now there is a regulated range. The range is actual quite nice with covered shooting areas and benches. No garbage and only the occasional idiot. The range officers make sure of that. Anyone who acts like an idiot is asked to leave.

If you have not yet done it, check out Angeles range.

Rifle side has steel up to 600 yards

Pistol side has hanging steel silhouettes at 30, 50, 75 and 100 yards to plink at.

For skeet, you can either go south to Prado, or north to Triple B's off of the 60 fwy? Rosemead exit IIRC. They have a clay range at Angeles as well, but I've never gone over to that side yet.

You're talking about Wildhorse Canyon Road. I used to go there all the time. Your closest outdoor range to shoot rifles is Burro. After that, probably Angeles or Lytle Creek.
