    Turlock Fun Show

Did any of you local folks check it out on Saturday? How'd it look? I'm thinking of making the drive later this afternoon.

My friends went yesterday. They said it wasn't worth the $10.

Went yesterday. It was my first gun show, and probably my last. I was not impressed, or maybe I was just expecting more. Sierra was there, but I go by thier store. Prices were nothing special. I figured that there would be some good deals. I bought some reloads and some boresnakes, but that was it.

I thought it was a very good show. A lot of guns and plenty of ammo. I am just curious as to what it takes to satisfy people when it comes to judging a gunshow as good, fair or poor. In the current climate, a good assortment of firearms, ammo and accessories (clips, lowers, uppers, optics, knives, etc) makes for a fairly good show. I know many people complain about being charged for parking which is understandable, but $10 for a good assortment of guns, ammo and accessories is more than reasonable. I felt that the Turlock show provided a very good selection. Let’s face it folks, the day of the “great deal” on shooting accessories, guns and ammo is gone for the foreseeable future. If the Turlock show was not worth $10, just what is it you want from a gunshow? Just curious.

Im just curious, do you work for Code of the West?

First, charging for parking is a crock of ****! And any vendor that is not gun show related needs to stay home. I can go to the flea market for that junk. A good gun show is a split between a swap meet and a local gun shop. We want to see a good variety of new items (not inflated in price because we can walk up the street to the local gun shop and buy cheaper) cheap ammo and used items at garage sale prices. Thats what gun shows used to be. Most really arent worth going to anymore because with the internet you can always find what you need without leaving your home.

I did not know quite what to expect, I just thought it might be like sports shows I have gone to, but smaller. I thought dealers would be willing to deal, something like show specials. I like the people at Sierra, but the prices they were offering at the show were the same as at their store, and at least when I was there did not have much time to talk to me. I would rather have gone to their store, which I have, and had plenty of time to talk. Many of the used guns were marked as to what they were, but some were not, and with my eyes and the poor lighting, I could not make out what they were. Overall, I just felt I was at a swap meet or flea market. I would have rather gone to Alquist or some other gun shop. I was happy that I did not have to pay for parking, but understand that many places do.
