I've taken a number of people who have never shot before through some basic training then to the range. To get them used to what firearms feel like in their hands beforehand, I use an old AirSoft gun(modeled after an S&W 9mm) and a Crossman air gun (modeled after the Colt Python). While these are functional for training proper grip and so forth, they suck for basic operational training because they do not function at all like real guns. The semi-auto slide springs to the rear and you have to force it forward and the revolver barrel breaks forward rather than a cylinder swinging out.
As I know next to nothing about modern AirSoft stuff, are there semi-autos and revolvers that operate more similarly to real guns as in slides that can be pulled back under spring tension and swing out cylinders? I've love to be able to show those types of operations without using real firearms if possible.
Thanks!
