    AR pistol for HD?

    Hey guys

I have a real quick question. Currently I have a RRA AR pistol up for sale. I don't know if I should keep it for home defense. I currently have a Glock 21 and a Glock 19 that I can use for HD, but what are your thoughts on a AR pistol for HD?

I would like to keep it, but having extra cash would be nice. Should I keep it or sell it?

It's a 7" and I would not really use it for HD, just use the G21

If not for anything else than legal reasons, don't use that for HD. Shooting someone with that in CA and then having to go to trial would suck. Prosecutor could paint you in a very negative light, unfortunately in this state that's just how it is.

Stick with a conventional pistol for sd use.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Yeah, an AR pistol just isn't the best choice for a HD situation.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

In other states it may not be as clear cut an answer; in CA however, the fact that you have to use a bullet button will cost you time you cannot afford to lose in an HD situation.

AR pistols are great range toys, but if your primary concern is HD, stick with a handgun or detachable magazine rifle or shotgun. Fixed mag builds are not really the greatest defensive options.

I would almost never considering a non-supressed AR rifle or pistol for HD, just for the permanent hearing damage you will experience when firing them indoors with no hearing protection(which I hope you don't wear in a life-threatening situation).

use the Glock 21 and get some quality personal defense ammo for home defense.

Nope don't do it. Even if you don't worry about slow reload time, and the fact the DA may paint you as Rambo at the trial, the gun used in self defense will be confiscated for evidence for an unknown period of time. I would rather lose a 500 dollar gun for a long time than my 1500 dollar ar pistola. Just my thoughts.

Rumor has it that a side effect of adrenaline is that it can protect your hearing (temporarily) in highly stressful situations as it prepares your body for its natural fight/flight reflex. I'm not sure if it always happens, but I have heard of it happening before. This of course doesn't mean that you can't or won't suffer hearing damage by firing a non-suppressed gun in a defensive situation, but I think that's going to be the least of your worries at that point in time.

Besides, most of us are in CA.

You know its not that loud compared to my AR-15. But I guess it is still louder than my glocks. Considering that most of you said that it may implicate me in a trial, I guess I will stick to my Glocks for HD. Appreciate all the feedback guys
