I'm on my BIL computer just to drop a quick message
I'm currently up in Reno and leaving early in the morning
On my way up i went up CA-99 and went across through Yosemite and then up Taioga pass up I-395. Stopped at a accident and gave first aid to a guy who wrecked on the pass. got some nice pics of half dome and Bridalveil falls and some other stuff. Ill post those when I get home. Went fishing got 6 inches of snow at Medicine lake. Winched out a poor bastad who got hub deep stuck in some lava rock and snow.
Anyway went to Suzanville on my way up. Ammo condition was dismal to say the least. Basicaly bare shelves except for some shotgun ammo. Picked up a few arrowheads on clearance and some cammo shirts.
Went fishing etc up in northern cali.
on the way back home stopped to see some family in Reno. Went to Sheel's and checked it out since i never got to go the last few times i went to Reno.
Ammo prices were through the roof. Box of .45 cal WBB box 50 count was 36$
9mm was 28$ a box of 50. a 200 count box of .223 was 119$ ( not sure if that was cheap or not) a box of 308 200 count was 198$. all other ammo prices were a lot higher than cali even higher than Big 5. These were Remington PMC etc. NOT mil sup ammo. A box of 7.62 wolf was 7.99 a box. that was the only mil sup style ammo there.
Went to a superwally there in Reno. a box of 50 round WBB .45 was 32$.( the only box on the shelf BTW) No other real ammo on the shelves. they did have a bigger selection of bird shot. And they did have guns on the rack. A Remi 870 was 235$. Way way low price. i was gonna snap it up but i couldn't. i picked up two boxes of #2 steel shot for 7.50 a box. the 100 value packs were the same like cali about 22$. they did have more slug and buck shot prices were comparable to cali. i spoke to both guys at Sheels and Wally in all three places and they all said ammo for pistols is simply not coming in ( especially wally world) At Sheels the guys said that ammo is available and they can easily get it. I figured their price being higher simply because they were a high end sporting goods store so you,re gonna pay for that. At Wally world both places said that ammo is being snapped up off the shelf as soon as it comes in so the hoarding is in nevada also or so it seems to me ( at least Wally ammo. Cheapest around maybe?
I called a few gun stores and they said ammo was available. The people were nice enough and gave me over the phone prices and they were slightly lower than Sheels and higher than Wally world.
Wish I had some better news for you guys. Best i can do is post some pics of some of the great and wonderful sights this country has to offer. i urge all of you to take some time and visit these national parks of ours before the damn communists close them all down for our best interests.
