The 800lb gorilla would be much more affective if it was 1100lbs. As a lobby group the NRA needs numbers and money to be affective. If joining the NRA at a reduced price is your thing then go ahead it cant hurt, but remember they are fighting for your rights, and that takes money,.
If you can donate then do so, if you cant at least join at the reduced price and the money you saved sign up other members of your family as associate members,
Associate is membership without monthly magazines. That way they still get the regular sign up fee and their membership count goes up by 2. Can't hurt....

I personally thought it was kind of silly to join up at a discount, but I've been able to convince a couple of my gun-owning relatives to join up because it's a 'good deal'. Another member is another member.

I thought it was rather odd that $3.75 of your membership dues goes toward the magazine subscription, yet if you want additional subscriptions, they are $9.95.

I've been a member for years, but it's always easier to get new folks to join at a lower price. (hence this thread) I don't just give my money to the NRA, I want as much for my dollar as I can get. I donate to the CGF. They get the bulk of my donation dollars.
