You're supposed to lube these things? Been running my 1911 dry for thousands of rounds and no issues.

For me it is either Breakfree CLP or the individually sealed Rem Oil wipes that have teflon. The Rem oil wipes rock. One can easily clean a pistol and minimize the stuff I need to pull out to clean. U can buy 100 of the for $40 to $50.

I stopped worrying about what is the best. I doubt I will ever wear out a firearm. If I do I will smile and buy another one.
I think Thor's hammer was an 45-70 lever action loaded with Garrett cartridges.

I find that 90% of the questions asked here have been answered 20 or more years ago by Jeff in hid Gargantuan Gunsite Gossip books.

On slides and BCG slide points, Lubriplate SFL-0 aluminum grease (similar to lithium bearing grease, but a white color and higher performance).

            Slip 2000 for everything else.

So far I see that there are 443 views for this poll, but only 60 votes? I'm sure some of these views come from the same person viewing it multiple times, but c'mon guys pick it up on the voting!

I voted CLP and if gun juice were on there i'd probably put that at a number 2 followed by tw25b

tba02 you have mentioned "KG7" in both of my posts/polls. I have never heard of this stuff and I searched the internet with "kg7 lubricant", "kg7 oil", "kg7 grease", "kg7 gun", etc and I couldn't find it anywhere.
bombadillo I have also never heard of Gun Juice, but as you can see from the picture I put in the first post I'm not afraid to buy and test another oil.

Most of the time the first test a new oil/grease can be put through that is a decent test is my hair clippers. I cut my hair usually once a week since I can cut it myself. I have had the same hair clippers for several years, so it's easy for me to tell if an oil/grease is doing a better job than the previous one. I can tell by how hot the clippers get, how close they cut, and how smooth they sound. As mentioned before I've had these for a number of years and since I use them weekly it's easy to tell these minute differences.

Other ways around the house I can test oil/grease without having to go shooting: Use an oil on my Reloading Press, door hinges, door locks, metal drawer tracks, garage door track, air tools, fire a .22 with Colibri rounds, clean high carbon/non stainless knives, etc Obviously a lot of these tests may not be as good as taking your weapon shooting to test your new product, but it does allow you to test at home without shooting and also to get some sort of an idea about the product. You can tell if it is going to evaporate, clump, run, make a mess, stay put, resist rust etc

Ya I looked it up as soon as I seen the post about it. I'll have to check it out soon. The only problem with it so far is I haven't found any places that carry it as well as some others I would like to get. Typically I'll order from Brownelles, Midway USA, or Natchez, so that I can order two or three different kinds at a time to make paying for shipping worth it.

I use KG-7 on my slides. I also use KG-10 and KG-11 for certain applications.

I currently use weapon shield on all of my carbon steel knives. It works well and has a pleasant smell to it.

I didn't vote, never used any of the above.

My grandpa swore by the old railroad lantern oil they used to use. His dad worked on the railroads and there were no fancy products so they used what they had available, lantern oil. So from the time my grandpa was a little boy until the day he died, all he ever used was this magic lantern oil on any of his guns: pistols, shotguns and rifles in a wide variety of calibers.

As a little boy when I would go hunting with gramps, he taught me how to oil my guns and of course we only ever used this oil which he kept in an old Aqua Velva bottle. Apparently it is near impossible to come by anymore, and has been for years, so one of the last things he said to me before he passed, literally, on the last day of his life, he asked me to take care of the small amount he had left in his old Aqua Velva bottle. I haven't used any since. True Story.

                                "Recoil."
