Yes. There is a one handgun per month DROS limitation on dealer purchases or incoming transfers. Private party transfers are exempt from the one handgun per month DROS. I think C and R handguns are exempt too.

you may only purchase/transfer through a dealer 1 handgun every thirty days. However, PPT transfers and cosignment sales are exempt from the 1-in-30 law. So, the answer is 1 handgun a month from a dealer, and as many as you can afford from PPTs.

12072(a)(9)(A) No person shall make an application to purchase more than one pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person within any 30-day period.
(B) Subparagraph (A) shall not apply to any of the following:
(viii) Any transaction conducted through a licensed firearms dealer pursuant to Section 12082.

Section 12082 is the section that deals with PPTs. PPTs are therefore exempt from 12072(a)(9)(A).

New purchases of handguns is limited to one per thirty days. If you purchase them from a private party, and you do the transfer through an FFL via a private party transfer (PPT) you may purchase as many handguns as you can afford.

You are limited to "less than six" (5) transactions (sales) of handguns per year. Any more than that, and you are considered dealing without a license to sell firearms.
