Shooting in Pleasant Hill Coco County

On Contra Costa Blvd a man this morning was in a house around 11, and about an hour ago, 430? the guy had a "assault rifle" shot at police and police shot back and killed him.

At about 12:30 today we were heading northbound on 680, and right before we got to the highway 4/680 interchange we saw 2 white hostage negotiations vans leading the way of the Contra Costa County Sheriff SWAT armor truck hauling butt heading southbound. Then about 1 mile later down the road more unmarked cars with lights in the visors hauling butt in the same direction, i knew something big was going on.

They had closed off Taylor Blvd, which at 9am I was riding my bike with my friend on Taylor, then to Martinez and Orinda.

Lucky We were gone by then.

Oddly enough,a buddy and me were coming down CC Blvd heading to the Martinez Gun Club and saw it closed at the corner of Willow Pass. There was a lot of activity in the area of those houses across from Sears on CC Blvd.

Damn guns, if only they were outlawed this stuff would never happen!

Well, a SWAT sniper took out that guy.

A tense, five-hour police standoff ended Sunday afternoon when a SWAT officer fired a single, fatal shot at a man who had repeatedly shot at officers from inside a house near Sunvalley mall, police said.

In the end, police deployed tear gas through the front door, and the man retreated to the backyard with an assault rifle when the sharpshooter killed him, said Pleasant Hill police Lt. Dan Connelly.

The suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, died about 4:05 p.m., ending a long stalemate on Audrey Lane involving several police agencies, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol.

I spoke with a PHPD officer about 20 minutes ago while he was here in my house. I asked what kind of AW the bad guy used, he couldn't answer since its still under investigation. At least i tried.
