    Reloading .308

Is it worth to reload .308 or is it Mil Surp the way to go?

It depends! Are you using a bolt action or a semi-auto? Are you shooting for accuracy or quantity? I reload .308 for my Savage 10FP-HS Precision bolt gun because I want to use premium components. So in this regard, it is definitely less expensive to reload.

          Dies....

When you start reloading .308 use small base dies. Get yourself some wilson case guages also. After the brass is right reloading is simple. Oh, buy yourself a digital Pact dispenser and scale, and a Rcbs electric case trimmer. The last two things are expensive but save all kinds of time. Stay away from progressive presses.

Not all is berdan. Picking up brass at the range is a good way to get started, but only brass that you know is first time fired. If your using a automatic rifle don't reload your brass more than 5 times. Brass will fail on you. I use the five time method, works for me.

If you are just starting out, Progressives aren't the best to learn on. I currently own a Hornady progressive, but I learned on a RCBS Jr. Press.

If you make a mistake, it multiplies like rats.

As was mentioned, surplus is going through the roof. if you can get it at all.

In my experience, that's a myth. I started out on a Dillon progressive and if you can read directions and follow them it's not a big deal.

                        Amen
The same rule applies to single stage as it does to progressives

Milsurp is the best thing for the purpose of creating randomly placed holes in pieces of paper.
