fine for green and orange guns?

where the coloration of the entire exterior surface of the firearm is bright orange or bright green, either singly, in combination, or as the predominant color in combination with other colors in any pattern, is liable for a civil fine in an action brought by the city attorney of the city or the district attorney for the county of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

anyone know what the purpose of this is?
    thanks for educating me,
    Megan

I would imagine that because most toy guns are bright orange or bright green. The only reason to paint your gun that color would be to disguise it as a toy, is probably the thinking behind this law.

I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

    and

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

Yeah, I think you need to post the entire PC for it to make a little more sense. The first part deals with imitation firearms (or props) - the second part, which you posted, deals with actual firearms. Hope this helps!

      AB 2053, Wesson. Imitation firearms.
Under existing law, any person who, except as specified, sells,
manufactures, ships, transports, distributes, or receives an
imitation firearm, as defined, is liable for a civil fine of not more
than $10,000 for each violation. Existing law also describes
certain devices, among which is a firearm containing markings
provided in a specified provision of federal law, that are not
included in the definition of "imitation firearm."
This bill instead would provide that in order to be a violation,
the above-described activities involving the imitation firearm would
have to be for commercial purposes. The bill would also provide that
an imitation firearm where the coloration of the entire exterior
surface of the device is bright orange or bright green, either singly
or in combination, would not be subject to the above-described
      prohibitions.
This bill would also provide that any person who purchases, sells,
manufacturers, ships, transports, distributes, or receives a
firearm, where the coloration of the entire exterior surface of the
firearm is bright orange or bright green, as specified, is liable for
a civil fine of not more than $10,000.

                      What about these?

Peace demands solutions, but we never reach living solutions; we only work toward them. A fixed solution is, by definition, a dead solution. The trouble with peace is that it tends to punish mistakes instead of rewarding brilliance.
Bureaucracy destroys initiative. There is little that bureaucrats hate more than innovation, especially innovation that produces better results than the old routines. Improvements always make those at the top of the heap look inept. Who enjoys appearing inept?

And evidently they're not too fond of the Martians, either.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.
