    Hollywood Movie Guns

Well we all see action movies with full auto AR-15's, AK-47's, etc. How are they able to do this legally in CA? For example in the movie Heat they had full auto AR-15's and it was obviously in Los Angles. I have always wondered this ever since I started coming to this board. Are they just fake guns? I just assumed they used blanks.

Movie industry has enough funding to get special permit or armorer. They get lot of previlages we don't get.

Sometimes they lobby for exemption from existing laws.

Many govemnet officials believe that by letting them doing so the goverment can generate revenue.

I believe they are real things blasting blank ammos.

So you guys are telling me to become a producer/director/actor or what? But seriously, this should be investigated further, maybe we can get some fun toys and permits if we put our minds together.

Probably easier to just leave CA for Free America and buy some pre 86 rifles and sears.

Face it folks. Average Joe just aint gonna have class 3 toys in the PRK.

I think we should have a Calguns SBR Day. Download the packet here:

And then we'll all send them in at once. DOJ will be perplexed to say the least. Who knows, someone might get one.
BTW, you should look at the regs pertaining to the transportation of 'Dangerous Weapons.'
Also, some of the MG permits are issued on the condition that no live ammo be used in the firearms.
I saw a thread on ARF.com in which a guy listed NFA by state. There are 20k machineguns in CA. I don't know how many are LEO Dept issued, but I'd be curious. Anybody know how to do a FOIA or PRA?
I get a little excited thinking about NFA. I want a Colt M16A2. I just dont have $20k for one. Poo on 922(o).

most of these guns are rented from dealers that specialize in these weapons as well as blanking them and special effects they have armorers on set that take care of all these weapons for the movies ,that would be a fun job

A FOIA wont help you here as the form 4 uses a TAX Stamp and that information is privileged. Alot of those 20K NFA weapons are in the hands of private individuals. They also can have nothing to do with the state as the feds know better than to pass on privileged tax information to the state government.

The NFA weapons that are in Private hands in PRC are grandfathered in and can be bequeathed in a will to my understanding. Not 100% sure on this point.

Most weapons and weapons related stuff are supplied to the studio's by a couple of prop houses.
International Studio Services (ISS) and Gibbons Ltd. are two that come to mind.
Two oldies that you may have heard about- Stembridge Gun Rentals and Ellis Mercantile are no longer around.

But what about the state issued permits? Those aren't a tax. I'd be curious to see:
                    1) How many registered MG's are in CA?
                    2) Of those how many are Law Enforcement MG's?
                    3) How many are in private hands?
                    4) Of those, what is their 'Just Cause?'
There have been lawsuits brought about by individuals who have been denied CCW permits. The same strategy might be used here. If you get records and can show a pattern of discrimintaion, you might have a case that would stand a snowball's chance in Hell.
Someone please correct me if I'm being an idiot.
