Hunt around for an old used Beeman (pre-93). Built to last.

Been happy with my Gamo Hunter. How old? Reason I ask, the Gamo's "break action" is hard for anyone under 12 IMO.

He is going to be seven ...but will ALWAYS be shooting with an adult. I want him to be able to use it for years to come.

I doubt he will be able to cock any break barrel pellet rifle. Get him a youth model, he might be able to use those.

Skkeeter is right. The cocking effort on the break barrels is from 20-40lbs.
              I don't think a 7 y/o would even be capable of cocking the 20lber.

Maybe a C02 rifle would be better for a kid.

I have no idea about what's a good or bad air rifle but Oaktree was forced to sell them to keep their Benelli contract.

If you live close by you might stop in and look at them.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Check out Gamo air rifles; they are reasonably priced spring piston type air rifles. There are many online sources with good prices.

couldn't agree more, an R7 will fit the bill perfectly

                    he'll later want an R1

Man, get him a Red Ryder BB gun. Load 600 bbs at a time in that baby and he will have a blast. $29.99 at WalMart, and another $4.00 for 6000 zinc bbs. I have a lot of nice guns, but my Red Ryder is one of my favorites, really. Lot's of fun in the back yard!
