    Sportsman's Guide

I actually had a great interaction with these people. I ordered 1000 rounds of AK ammo a while ago when the price was 229, but it was backordered. When they shipped it to me, I saw they charged me 300.

I called them and they took care of the problem, refunding me 86 bucks, very quickly and were very courteous as well. I joined their buyer's club because it got me free shipping and 5% off the ammo, so the buyer's club fee ($30) almost paid for itself right there. I will be shopping with them again for sure.

Some of the best buys on ammo can be had with TSG. Been a member for over 2 years. Enjoy some of the bennies that members get. I renewed my member early and got free shipping + extra % off on my last order.

I'll apologize now if this is thread crapping.

Until a week ago I would have agreed with the thumbs up for Sportsman's Guide. I've been a member for several years and have had a good experience ordering a LOT of ammo and other stuff. however...I recently ordered an AR-15 brass catcher. The day after I made the order I received an email telling me that the brass catcher is a restricted item in California and they were cancelling that portion of the order. I called customer service thinking I may be able to work it out with them. Nope. They insisted it was restricted by California law and they could not ship it. Oh well. It ended up for the best in the end. I ordered it from a Calguns sponser (Metaldog Tactical) and got a better deal when it was all done.

I'm torn. I know I can get good deals on ammo (when it's in stock) from Sportsman's Guide, but the brass catcher thing really ticked me off. I'm not sure if I'll go back to them.

there is some serious stupidity over at sportsman guide but any thing they say is restricted you can get form a calguns supporter

any firearm part is illlegal in CA according to them. they would not send me a sling for a m1 carbine. the guy actually told me all firearms are illegal in ca too.

however, the ammo deals are good. i am a member. its worth it for that.

Every product I have looked at shows their state or county restrictions right under the product so I know what I can and can't order from them, no matter how ridiculous it is. Saves me from ordering it and then getting mad that they won't ship it to me.

On the plus side... I ordered 1,000 rounds of CCI Minimag and they shorted me 100 rounds. One email to them and they responded within an hour with an apology and a UPS tracking number for the 100 rounds. They were here a couple days later.

I love TSG - the trick is do not order anything with AR or AR15 in the title of the product. They will not ship it to CA. Their system keys off the product title, not actually "what it is". For example, I ordered several bore brushes in 9mm, 223, etc. which arrived just fine, but they would not ship me the "AR 15 Chamber brush" I also ordered which is exactly the same thing.

They have great stuff though (and some junk too of course), I have the Guide Gear desert chukka boots and they're awesome and only cost me $35. You just can't beat it.

That doesn't always work. The only restriction shown on the brass catcher was no shipping to Canada. There was no mention of California.

Interesting, because recently I was helping a friend build an AR and we lost a pin and a spring, so we ordered an AR pin set and an AR spring set, along with an AR universal tool and some other AR parts he wanted. All came right to the front door, no questions asked.

Sportsman's Guide is a great company, but they have some crazy ideas about what's legal in California. They wouldn't ship me a bayonet because ''it's part of you guys' assault weapons ban'',and they think they can't ship black powder guns to California. They have forced me to give a coupla grand over the years to Cabela's, who don't seem to have their head up their tail pipe as far when it comes to California laws. For boots and sweaters,SPG is just fine though.

For some screwey reason SG won't ship me ammo. Plenty of other vendors will and I tried explaining that to them. Oh well, their loss.

I've had a .22 rimfire order on backorder since March. I hope they eventually come through.
Funny you mention SG not shipping a brass catcher for an AR15 to Ca. Mt neighbor mentioned he tried to order one from Cheaper Than Dirt and they told him the same thing. I told him it was a waste of money anyway!!

I know that they have some weird asinine ideas about the horrible state of CA gun laws, but I am willing to forgive them that because of the phenomenal customer service I received. Plus, other than my HF catalog, there's is the best reading material on the back of my toilet
