No kids. While at home I keep a loaded gun by my side 3 days a week. You guess which three.
I also keep a loaded gun in a ziplock bag in the back part of the toilet like in the movies. Seems to work in all of the movie scripts.

I keep my AR unloaded at all times but keep a 10rd mag with 7rds in it hidden nearby. I have a 16yr old brother who is to immature to handle a loaded weapon

870 unloaded, shells on the gun ready to be loaded. Handguns, unloaded, holstered with loaded mag's in the pocket on the holster's. We have our plan in place if we need to have a gun. We sleep with the bedroom door locked. I sleep sound and wake up confused. I do not want to wake up and grab a loaded gun. If I wake up and need a gun, I figure, if I am awake enough to load, I am awake enough to comprehend the situation and act accordingly.

I have them unloaded with the mag next to it. I do have a kid roaming my house so I rather just keep them locked but there definately within reach.

I completely understand having a round chambered as we all know how little time you have to react in a hostile situation. My only curiosity and concern relates to the potential of a round going off if there was a fire. It seems that keeping the mag full but with an un-chambered round would be the safest while a chambered round could very well cook off creating a potentially deadly situation should anyone be in the house fighting the fire.

I am curious what everyone's thoughts on this is.

                    Thanks.

Remington 870 with a ten-round mag. tube and pistol grip while I sleep. An XD-45 loaded and concealed carried at all times while on my property. No kids at home, no grandkids yet. The safe is available when appropriate.

We have three guns here usually loaded and chambered and safety on. Right now though only one is the other two need a good cleaning after our shooting tirp.

My wife and I are the only ones in the house and we shoot extensively. We have 4 handguns and a shotgun (all loaded) and placed throughout the house.
