The mag catch may be bullet tip release modifiable. Hard to tell while only looking at the other side.

    Sweet though.

I think "Uses NATO/M16 magazines" is promising for current fixed magazine plans.

Since it is a Masada, does the selector go from "safe," "semi" to "suicide?"

I like the original folding stock. Got to find a way to fix it open. I think someone mentioned it was $1400, but won't be availale till begining of 2008. It say's it has a "M16 break open receiver".

Did anybody notice the two different types of lower magwells, and magazines. Could it be M16 and AK47 magazine compatible?

Masada, wasn't that the fortress that took the Romans months to take in what is now Israel?

                    To clear things up.

From what I know this is a proprietary MAGPUL design, manufactured rifle. So no weird import here.

As to being an AR thing, the only thing it has in common with an AR is the potential to accept AR mags and also AK mags. Talks of either FAl or M1A mags are in the circular but I don't think they want to go that route just yet.

The operating system of the rifle is similar to the G36/AR18 series of rifles with the bolt similar to the Ak system. There's nothing even remotely close to an AR here folks. Personally I think if Magpul can get this thing to run reliably and in the $1400 range they promise than they have a giant slayer on their hands.

Man I'd love to get my hands on one.

I'm not too worried about Magpul's lack of firearms manufacturing experience. They just might need a little time to iron out all the bugs. I mean, at one time Glock made shovels, and HK made sewing machines. I'll give them a chance, this may be the beginning of something beautiful.

It looks promising, I'll wait till they work out all the bugs.

Maybe we can convince 'em to do a gripless lower for us.

From the cutaway diagram, it would seem that building a variant with a 'politically correct' buttstock (a la M1 Garand) would be feasible (no receiver extension with buffer/spring combo to deal with).
