    Sharpshooter Range

    Changes are going on....

The range has been upgraded, they are getting into AR type rifles, lowers, etc. and are in the process of adapting part of the range for centerfire rifle use.

All good thigs as I see it.....

Thanks for the update. Haven't been there in a while.

Yep, that's great! Been going there since the 80's and is one of my favorite local ranges. Just wish they would run some AC inside the range during the hot summer days.

The problem with trying to air condition the range is the incredible energy inefficency... Tith the exhause fans running, any air they cool would shortly be wasted to the outside...

They could try evaporitave coolers, but they raise the humidity...

Yeah.....I don't know what the solution is although I know other ranges such as Insight are able to achieve some semblance of environment control on the hotter days. I was there a couple weeks ago shortly after they got the new backstops installed; it was so hot and humid in there I was sweating like a pig. Of course, this was during the one and only heat spell we have had this summer in the South Bay.

Agreed about how hot it gets in there. I was there two weeks ago and had sweat pouring down my face.

Btw, they are having problems with the new backstop and birdshot, so they only allow buckshot and slugs from shotguns now. I found out when I went to break in a new shotgun and showed up with the wrong ammo. They didn't have either available for sale that days, so I was SOL.

They have done a great job with the range remodel. When its hot, that ice cold drink machine is excellent!

Been going there for years and it was looking run down there for a while. Glad to see it back in good shape again. Can't wait until they allow rifle rounds there.
