I sense something wrong with the top one.

I think I might get a mouth full of brass If I shot that rifle.

Sam, that is a lefty rifle.

          Edited to add:

My Stag lower is very grey compared to my Megas and even my Fulton Armory lowers. I got mine December 2005 and I remember seeing inconsistent Stag lowers come through with the multiple orders/shipments. Some were grey and industrial (not smoothly finished, more textured), like mine. Others were darker almost black, and smoothly finished.

Actually it's not a lefty rifle.. the whole pic is reversed.. lefty rifles have no forward assist and deflector on that side.. just the ejection port.

There was a guy on ARF (Patrick Sweeney I think) who was allegedly in talks with Stag to get an old school A1 lower produced, with no reinforcements, plain rollmarks (no stupid deerhead), squared off front pivot pin tabs, SAFE-SEMI markings, early Colt grey finish, etc etc I dont think it ever went anywhere. Combined with a CDNN A1 upper that would just slay!

No, she's a Stag lefty. See how the ejection port cover is upside down? Mag release is in the normal position as well-Stag doesnt make lefty lowers, only uppers.

Cannot be a reversed PIC, as the lettering for safe and fire is still readable, and not reversed.

STAG uppers Lefty units are full lefty uppers with bolt assist and deflector.

If you want a nice smooth anno finish get a CMMG lower....Ive handled RRA, Stag, Mega, doublestar and the CMMG finish was the smoothest...

I read a long time ago on ARfcom about a company that reanodized in that color. Duracoat also comes in that color too.

You should look at the retro forum on ARfcom to get more info. I've seen guys that have modified their lowers before coloring to get a real authentic old school look.

The Essential Arms "grey" receiver is actually a very close match.
