Beware!! Dont buy Tango Down PR-4 CRAP!!!!

I just bought it. And I was extremely disappointed!!!! A: it doesn't close snug like there picture clearly shows on the packaging. B: It clamps right down to your buffer tube threads and flattens and scars them up BAD! so if you want to change your stock in the future it may hinder screwing your castle nut all the way back. And C: When I brought it to Tango Down's attention they wrote this reply:Thank you for contacting us. There is no flaw in the design. The PR-4 will accommodate several different diameters of receiver extensions. Depending on those diameters, there may or may not be a gap on either side of the PR-4. This is spelled out in detail in the instructions. We suggest always relying on the manufacturer's instructions versus advertising images.
I replied "A picture tells a thousand words and it clearly shows the clamp being snug and flush! Not having a sizable GAP! After all we are buying it for real AR's not air soft toys!

A company who values their customers sould include small shims with the mounts for cases like this. Include 3 or 4 aluminum shims. Might cost an additional .03 to produce in bulk and in the end they will keep their customer base.

a Noveske QD endplate is much much much better and less than half the price..... It also is not big and bulky and doesn't destroy your buffer tube threads

Please explain why from a mechanical perspective it's required not to have a gap in order for it to be mounted properly.

My first reaction to your post is that I'd be more worried about 1) did I apply the appropriate amount of torque to secure the screws, and 2) is there any movement in the mount. If the mount is secure and you haven't overtorqued it then I can't imagine why it would matter if there's a gap. I'm wondering if you flattened the threads on the buffer tube because you overtorqued the PR4 screws.
