    Sig 556/p556 legality in CA?

I know the smaller pistol may have legality issues (does it? I'm wondering), but is the standard 556 allowed for sale in CA? As I understand it, it has U.S. made parts and is readily imported to the U.S., but what about CA?

    Thanks!

Both the SIG556 and SIG556 Pistol need to have a magazine lock installed.

Not sure what the OAL of the SIG556 is with a folding stock, but you may have length issues. The fixed stock and collapsable stock versions are good to go, in regards to OAL.

Due to the approved list, the SIG556 Pistol will need to be made into a single-shot pistol for importation into CA.

Thanks for the info. Is there anyone in SoCal who sells the 556 (not pistol) already taken care of (proper oal, lock, etc.)? What is the market value?

Not sure who has some in stock.
I do know, Cold War Shooters sold some in the past.

Don't know about the CA market value, since I've never really been interested in them.
For me, it's just another gas-piston rifle that takes STANAG magazines.
And I'd rather have a LWRC M6 than the SIG556.

It's a question of potential quality and accuracy as it IS a Sig. That would be like saying the MP5 is just another sub that shoots 9mm.

It's a US made SIG, which is different than a Swiss made SIG.
Quality control with the US made SIG < Swiss made SIG.

If it was legal to get a SIG SG550 series, than I would be on it in a heart-beat.
But, the SIG556 just seems to be a gas-piston AR wannabe.

              Oh, I stand corrected.
