    DROS name error, what now?

I was putting some paperwork away just now and i saw that the name on the DROS isn't correct. I didn't notice it before when I did the PPT, and I didn't look when I picked it up.

They have my surname under "Suffix", my given first name is two parts and those were put down as "First" and "Middle" and my western name is under "Last".
for example: the name on my DL is John Paul Allen Smith
    on the DROS it's

    First Middle Last Suffix
    --------------------------------------------------
    John | Paul | Allen | Smith

My DL has all four listed in that order, it's possible that's how it got entered that way. All the other information is correct and its been just under a month.

So, do I need to go back to the FFL that did the PPT and have them fix it?
If so, do i need to bring the firearm back for another 10 days? Any other issues i should be aware of?

If it was for a long gun I wouldn't bother, as they really only need your DL and DOB. However if it's a handgun I would definitely make sure they have it registered properly.

PS If you have an irregularly structured name it might make sense to check the paperwork you're signing??
I hate people that are full of hate.

It's not illegal to tip for PPT!

Ahhhh, another person who DROS'ed at Turner's Pasadena location or any Big 5 store
Johnny Ringo: "It's quoted in the bible, Revelations: Behold the pale horse. The man who sat on him was death, and Hell followed with him. "

Hmmm, the Big5 in Fairfield was quite anal about the paperwork, went over it twice during the initial purchase and again with the pick up.

Is that the way it scanned in from your DL? Sounds like a glitch in the DROS software.

How should it have been entered. First = John, Middle = Paul, Last = Allen-Smith or First = John-Paul, Middle = Allen, Last = Smith or ???

i've never had this issue before, i've checked my other DROS forms and they're all correct. This was a handgun, so I guess i should talk to them about it.

            wasn't Turners or Big 5.

it should have been "john paul" as the first name, "allen" as the middle and "smith" as the Last. I have no suffix, unless the DL was scanned and the computer thought it was a suffix.

So do I need to bring the handgun back for another 10 day?

It is normal. If you have four names, then your last name goes into "suffix" portion when the CDL is scanned. No big deal, I have seen people DROSed with entirely wrong last names, all that matters is that the CDL is correct. If not, then it will be rejected.

So in other words, worry about other things.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. I notice little mistakes I make on DROS here and there. If it doesn't get held up, don't worry about. Even on a handgun. If you have a copy of DROS, just keep it and that is proof you did everything right. In the grand scheme of things the DOJ doesn't care they already have your money!
