    Del-Ton necro order...

I just recieved an e-mail that the good folks at Del-Ton are going to fill my order from 12/21/08! How nice! And what brilliant piece of unobtainium took nine months to track down? Two basic lower parts kits. Thanks, but no thanks Del-Ton.

    Hahahaha,

I was recently contacted by them about an order I place in January of 09, I told them I found the parts long ago and to cancel my order. The funny thing was I did not even remember placing the order, it had been that long.

I have yet to here form them on an upper I ordered from them back on 2/4/09. I called them a week or so ago and the girl said they are running 12 to 16 weeks for delivery, I then asked her what kind of calender she uses as this is a lot longer than the time frame she is telling me. The dumb she didn't get it, she kept telling me that they are behind 16 weeks, bla bla bla. I guess when they get there calender out and quote 16 weeks it must not include weekends, holidays, Mondays when followed by a Tuesday, Fridays when preceded by Thursdays or any day that ends in day.... Its a good thing I am in no hurry but come on be real.. this is a little ridiculous. Maybe someday I will be surprised!!!

Yeah, I cancelled my Del-Ton order from Jan 09 in March.

They had great prices, and I was new to this OLL stuff, but I found something else at a good price.

Not establishing the best reputation are they? Once they get back up to speed, I will take another look at their site, but for now they are on the BAN list for vendors in my book

Del-Ton never had a good reputation to begin with, IIRC. All it had was the reputation of not being back-ordered as badly as the rest. And as we're seeing here, Del-Ton's "shorter backorders" were just a result of either mis-estimating production schedules or flat-out lying to the customer to secure more backorders.

Model1Sales is another example of a "bottom feeder" vendor which folks started ordering from once the top-tier AND middle-tier vendors started saying "Look, we're backordered a year minimum, we're not taking any more orders."

There's frequently a REASON that some vendors take a while to get hugely back ordered.

On a side note though, I'll give Del-Ton points for actually calling you guys now that they have the parts again. If I were the person on the other end of the phone, I wouldn't try to defend anything or talk about how many weeks back it was, it'd just be, "Hey, you ordered the parts, we've got 'em in now, do you want them or not? Yes or no?"

I got all of you beat.

I placed an order with them in November of last year. I finally got tired of waiting and cancelled the order earlier this month.

Guess what shows up in my office on Tuesday??

My order from November. Too bad I didn't need it anymore.

Was in Fayetteville, NC last week. Called Del-ton to order some parts, then drive an hr to pick-up. Was told I could pick-up only after they filled the order and called me to pick-up 2/3 weeks lead time. No thanks, also was told even thou the part showed in stock most likely they weren't..

I got my stuff from Model 1 in about 5 1/2 months. I placed another order a few months ago for an upper that is just in my "want" list, not my "need" list. I figure it will get here when it gets here. I have no complaints about the quality of their stuff. Both uppers I got worked just fine. I am reasonable certain the next one will too. It is just a matter of waiting around for them to get to it. By the same token though, my Anvil Arms upper will likely take at least 4 months to arrive as well. They are running into the same shortages of barrels and minor parts that are plaguing everybody else. That is life in the Black Rifle world thes days. You can have it fast, or good quality or cheap. But not all three. Usually at least two, but definately not all three right now.
