WWB vs American Eagle vs ?

I am always looking for a source for bulk .45 ACP and soon .223 Remington/5.56x45mm NATO ammo.

For my .45 I've gone between the Wallyworld WWB ammo and the more expensive bulk American Eagle. Problem with WWB is that it's dirty, smokey as a musket (it actually coats my shooting glasses), and I've had misfired primers with it.

AE is a bit snappier in feel (faster burn rate?) and cleaner. I like shooting it more even though it hits the pocket book.

What do other people use? Wolf isn't an option at the ranges I shoot at.

I thought the Wallyworld ammo was reloaded. American Eagle is factory. If you can afford it... go with factory. Less chance of an bad primer/squib.

You could also consider reloading. You can end up dropping the cost of ammo to literally a penny a shot if you get a cast for the bullet. There are shops that sell reload starter kits.

As far as I know (and I could be wrong) the Winchester White Box bulk ammo is new factory ammo.

I have never had a misfire with it, but it is dirty. I have yet to find another (factory) brand that is as inexpensive and as accurate as the WWB (I'm not saying it is very accurate). Ever since the WalMarts near me stopped selling ammo, I have been buying whatever is on sale at Big 5 . I don't like the Remington stuff, I think it is actually dirtier than the WWB is. Every once in a while I find decent deals online for Speer and Hornady for $9-$10 and I will buy a few boxes of those when I can. I have also had decent luck with the CCI Blazer so far, but have not shot a whole lot of that.

If you don't mind shooting Blazer, then that's probably the best price you'll find on bulk .45 ammo from Wideners. http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=6829&dir=18|646

I find AE .45 to be much more dirty than Blazer. Magtech is another good ammo brand if you don't want to shoot aluminum. It's actually very clean and shoots very well. Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot are also good brands. All of the ammo brands I've mentioned shoot just as well, and are much cleaner in my experience than AE and WWB. Good luck.

I have never had a problem with WWB. That is pretty much the only thing I shoot. Every once and a while I shoot remington. I get it from Walmart so do all of my friends, and none of us have had a problem. Now Blazer ammo is crap from Walmart.

Btw, since you like shooting American Eagle, here is the cheapest place I've seen that ammo in .45acp:
