I have the baby brother of that safe. It's essentially identical but just a little smaller. My only complaint is I'm out of room!!! Maybe I need to go get that one.

You need to know that having internal hinges the door only opens to 90 degrees, not "all the way open" like a refrigerator door.

I prefer external hinges... but somehow ended up with two Cannon safes instead!

I don't have that particular model, but I do have a Cannon and like it. I like the warranty better. They are one of the few companies that have a warranty that you do not pay to ship if it needs repair work. That is one of the things that sold me.

Some companies require you pay for shipping ($200-300) or you have to get 3 estimates from a locksmith ($50+ for each) prior to them shipping. Cannon will send someone to your home if close enough if there is a problem.

For the money, I thinks it's a decent deal, IMHO. But I wouldn't expect it to provide much fire protection, if any at all.

The drawbacks are one 5/8' layer sheetrock as fire protection (sheetrock is the worst protection [cheap - and it breaks], and one layer is the least amount I've ever seen), internal hinges, and the light weight. The safe shell is probably 10 ga or lighter.

I'd suggest going to Sturdysafe.com to read up about features, and compare features to other safes's websites, etc.

Who are you asking? The Cannon or the Patriot Safe? Patriot Safes are made in San Bernardino.

Capt. Speirs, just curious about something, not knocking your choice at all in any way. I googled your model and it showed the same pic and it said it was a 1hr. fire rating. Is that yours.

I'm just asking because if they told you 2hr. and it shows 1hr. on their site that may cause a problem for you if God forbid you have a fire. Just a fyi.

There is a 2 hour upgrade option!
